Welcome to Ground Up Café at Theatre Porto!

A Place Where Great Coffee and Meaningful Impact Come Together

At The Ground Up Café, we serve more than just tasty drinks and treats. We offer an experience rooted in the heart of our community, empowering young people with learning disabilities by providing real-world employment opportunities.

Our Mission

The Ground Up Project is dedicated to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone can thrive. We believe in the power of skills development and meaningful work, which is why our team is growing and will be made up of talented young individuals eager to learn, grow, and make a difference. Every cup of coffee you enjoy here helps fuel a brighter future for them.

  • Tasty food: from light bites and homemade soups to toasties, bagels, and cold sandwiches, our lunch menu has something for everyone, all made fresh with care.
  • Delicious Bites: Our café menu currently features homebaked sweet treats. Look out for our full menu coming soon!
  • A Welcoming Space: Nestled inside Theatre Porto, our café is a warm, inclusive place to relax, catch up with friends, or fuel up before enjoying a show.

Making a Difference

Our café is a hub for social impact and change, paving the way for young neurodiverse adults to gain practical skills, build confidence, and engage meaningfully with the community. By supporting us, you’re contributing to a project that enables and empowers.
