In August 2022, we opened a brand new, specialist theatre and cultural hub in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port.
The venue is the only one of its kind, in Cheshire and on Merseyside and one of a handful of dedicated theatres in England, specifically ‘for, by and with’ children and young people. Our space is for the young, and for anyone who was once young who wants to connect, play, dream, or imagine.

Over £550,000 secured to support Ellesmere Port’s cultural future
Theatre Porto and the Ellesmere Port Cultural Learning Exchange have secured more than £550,000 to support children’s creativity and cultural activity across Ellesmere Port, marking a major step forward in the town’s long-term cultural vision.
Mika and the Polar Bear: A Journey of Friendship, Courage and Climate Hope
Created in response to the climate crisis, this visually rich dance theatre work blends contemporary dance, puppetry, digital animation and original music to tell a powerful story of friendship, resilience and hope.

This November has been an extraordinary month for Theatre Porto. After being shortlisted in three major awards recognising excellence in design, planning and family arts, the organisation took a win at the Cheshire West Design Awards 2025.
