RAWD Joins Theatre Porto as Associate Company in Residence
We’re thrilled to announce that RAWD will be joining us as a new associate company
RAWD (Random Acts of Wildness Disability) is a company dedicated to helping disabled people grow through life & art by; inclusive weekly theatre-based sessions, professional theatre touring, individual professional development, training, accessible social events and creative access consultancy.
Through their weekly sessions in Merseyside & Cheshire RAWD have created a vibrant community of disabled artists (over 80) who are passionate about producing work in the local area and beyond.
The company produce inclusive arts experiences and performances which all present and amplify the disabled perspective.
As a new associate company here at Theatre Porto, RAWD will be offering:
- Inclusive Weekly Theatre Based Sessions on Wednesdays 11-1.30pm
- Two public performances per year that platform the disabled perspective; one co-produced devised summer show and one winter ‘full of fun’ performance
RAWD’s Creative Producer Alice Lapworth, said: “We are over the moon to have established this partnership with Theatre Porto and feel so supported & welcomed by this amazing venue and all its team. We are proud to have a consistent offering in Ellesmere Port and Cheshire West that is professional, inclusive and FUN! These milestones are important for our organisation to fulfil its aims of amplifying disabled voices and making the arts, its places and people more accessible and inclusive for all!”
