Ellesmere Port Cultural Learning Exchange Launches New Work-Based Learning Project
The Ellesmere Port Cultural Learning Exchange has unveiled an innovative work-based learning project designed to introduce hundreds of students to career opportunities in the arts across the town.
This initiative unites Ellesmere Port’s cultural and arts providers with schools, addressing the need to raise awareness about careers in the arts and cultural sector. Key partners include the National Waterways Museum, Library Service, Edsential, and Theatre Porto, all of which offer a variety of employment opportunities.
In collaboration with The Pledge, the partnership has created an exciting new work experience program. This program will allow students to engage with live briefs from cultural employers in the town. The Catholic High School will be among the first to participate, with students forming project teams to tackle a marketing campaign challenge.
Caz Brader from Theatre Porto expressed her enthusiasm: “We are really pleased to have found a new model that will enable hundreds more young people to uncover a range of work opportunities they may not have previously been aware of. We hope this will be the start of a pipeline that raises aspirations and brings young people from first awareness to one day becoming the arts and cultural trainees, apprentices, and employees of the town.”
This initiative promises to be a significant step towards connecting students with some of Ellesmere Port’s most exciting employers in museums, libraries, and theatres, helping to build future talent in the arts and cultural sectors.
