Smile with the moon and journey to the stars
Step into the captivating world of ‘Moonsmile’ this festive season, a heart-warming adventure, filled with wonder and a sprinkling of moonlight magic.
When a lonely museum caretaker loses something deeply precious, he embarks on an extraordinary journey that carries him far beyond the stars… all the way to the moon!
Feeling a little unsure on his unexpected quest, the caretaker encounters the strange but lovable, Moonlings, who with their gentle wisdom and mischievous playfulness, help the caretaker rediscover what he thought was lost forever.
Blending enchanting music, puppetry and mask, Moonsmile is a visually stunning, non-verbal performance that invites audiences of all ages to dream big and to celebrate the wonder of the winter season.

About Goofus Theatre
Goofus Theatre was founded in 2012 and is a touring theatre company creating original pieces with mask, puppetry, clowning, play and music.
The majority of Goofus work is non- verbal and aimed at audiences where theatre isn’t easily accessed for various reasons. We are a not for profit community interest company.
Goofus work in various performance settings ranging from festivals, streets, under tents, disused shops, foyers, forests, community spaces, museums, care homes, hospices, hospitals and conventional theatre spaces.
We believe theatre performance should have no borders. We believe access to our style of performance is for all ages, all backgrounds, everywhere.
We believe in a theatre that is mischievous, funny, strange, moving, fantastical, surreal and dreamlike.

Schools Specific Information
Theatre Porto is an intimate, child centered venue where we strive to provide a relaxed environment for your school group to enjoy a festive live performance experience together.
- we live stream the performance in a separate space for any of your group who may find being in the main theatre space throughout the performance difficult. We can also provide ear defenders for any young people who may find these helpful
- we can provide a space for groups of up to 30 to have a packed lunch before or after the show if helpful
- we are set in the middle of the Green Flag award winning Whitby Park which allows a space for your group to get some fresh air before or after your visit
- we have the brilliant Ground Up cafe on site for staff/ adult volunteers to make use of
- this visit can help your school deliver on your Enrichment offer through a live experience and we can work in partnership with you to connect your families with the free provision for children and young people at Theatre Porto outside of school time
