STATIk
Ages: 5+
Get ready for some fast-paced family fun with STATIk!
George Orwell’s 1984 for kids!
STATIk presents a comic dystopia where order rules and where progress is measured by packaged radios, all perfectly tuned to the radio station; ‘blah blah blah’.
Enter into the scene, a new worker who accidentally tunes into the sound of a … giggling baby?
Despite their best effort to fit-in and maintain the status quo, what follows is a hilarious sequence of events for our unsuspecting hero, which inadvertently brings about the destruction of the factory regime.
Using movement, clowning and visual comedy, STATIk is a brilliant, wordless show about breaking the mould which was created using the ideas of children.
Perfect for adults and children aged 5+
About the show
STATIk first originated as the ‘Mouths of Babes’ project which was a collaboration with 8 local primary schools in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Artists worked with children aged 5-11 years to answer life’s biggest questions which were captured as audio recordings and used as both a stimulus for a new narrative, as well as forming part of the soundtrack – children’s voices being the only text.
With a unique clowning style and a vibrant soundtrack, STATIk does indeed answer some of life’s big questions in a hilarious show about being brave enough to break the mould.
