Theatre Porto Young Writers’
Young Writers’ Showcase – Writing Goes Live
Date Wednesday 16th April 2025, 7pm – get tickets – Pay What You Like

Take some brand-new, exciting, surprising writing – from the heads and hearts of a dozen beautiful teenagers – and hand it over to two professional actors employed for three days…
Result?
Writing Goes Live is an evening of true stories, beautifully balanced sentences, and verbal anarchy. There will be prose, snatches of poetry, and pieces of writing that merge the two. Also, maybe a monologue or three, and definitely an evening of writing written especially-for-performance then put together with love and care. You will be transported to the worlds of others, given space for self-reflection and, without doubt, brought to a state of laughter.
Please join us: support young writers and be blown away by what they can produce.
Meet the Actors
The actors our Young Writers are working with are…

Thomas Casson
I’m an actor from North Wales with a passion for creating anything out of everything! I toured Shakespeare nationally as well as winning awards at the Edinburgh, Liverpool and Manchester Fringe Festivals. I make YouTube content and stream retro computer games. Looking forward to returning to Theatre Porto!
What inspired you to get involved in theatre / performance when you were younger?
I was in a play in high school and I made 300 people laugh as apposed to 30 people laugh (in the classroom) and in my head I said to myself.. ‘oh. I want to do this forever’.

Stephanie Greer
Stephanie trained at Bretton Hall gaining a first-class honours degree in Acting, later training as an aerialist with Barnton Circus. She has enjoyed a successful career both nationally and internationally and is an associate artist with renowned physical theatre company Tmesis Theatre.
What inspired you to get involved in theatre / performance when you were younger?
I began my acting career at the age of 13 when I played the back-end of the camel in my local pantomime! Despite not having the glory of the front end (which could spit), I was hooked and have been performing ever since! I love creating new work and have worked on many new writing projects, as well as devising numerous Theatre and Circus shows.
What is Theatre Porto ‘Pay what you like‘?
Pay what you like – this means all are welcome to watch the performance and you do not have to pay for a ticket. If you CAN make a contribution, this will ensure we are able to keep our performances and activities free and low cost to those who most need it.
