Theatre Porto Trustee Opportunity
Theatre Porto (formerly Action Transport Theatre) is an ambitious, specialist theatre company for, by and with children and young people, based in Ellesmere Port and part of Arts Council England’s’ National Portfolio
In August 2022, we opened our award-winning, new theatre and cultural centre in Whitby Park, following a £2.8M capital programme which has established a dedicated new children and young people’s venue for Ellesmere Port, the North-West and beyond.
As an arts-led company, we collaborate with children and young people to make world-class theatre, ‘merging the playful and political’ and exploring new ways to tell stories. Our new venue is an important cultural asset and resource which aims to contribute to the transformation of Ellesmere Port through the work we do with children and young people, local families and schools.
The company continues to undergo exciting change and we are now looking for board members to join us for the next stage of our journey. Candidates should be passionate about children and young people’s engagement in, and leadership of the arts and be committed to supporting the company to create brave and inclusive opportunities for our audiences and participants through new local, regional, national and international collaborations and partnerships.
We have spaces for two trustees to join our small and passionate team and we are interested in hearing from individuals with the following areas of expertise:
- Education
- Fundraising
- Public policy and influencing
- Environmental sustainability
- Technical Theatre
We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who have a personal connection to Ellesmere Port, those who are under 30 years of age and those who are under-represented in the sector; this includes those people who experience racism and marginalisation, those who are disabled, deaf, neurodivergent or have long-term health conditions.
